A new beginning

After running the Little Flower Van in Hobart for over 7 years, I had decided it was time to move on. So I’ve been on the hunt for a suitable location to establish my vision for a new shop. I had become a little discouraged after a couple of promising opportunities ended up falling through at the last minute. But a few weeks ago things took a sudden and dramatic turn!

Over the years, my husband and I would often drive through Lenah Valley and notice the cute little florist shop on Augusta Road. And every time we passed by, we’d say to each other, “That would be the perfect shop for us. If only it became available, we could really do something special there”.

Well, you can probably guess what happened next. In early June I became aware that Gabby, the owner of Valley Floral Boutique for 20 years, had decided to retire and had put the business on the market. We couldn’t believe our luck! I called Gabby straight away and set up a meeting. Within 10 minutes, we had come to an agreement to buy the business and the wheels were put in motion. By mid-June, the paper work had been signed and the deal was done!

So what now?

So now the hard work begins, and we’ve started fully renovating the shop. We’ve got lots of exciting plans and ideas, but it’s going to take a few weeks to bring them to life.

In the meantime, we’re still operating Little Flower Van in the Mall until the new shop opens, which means we’ve got some very busy weekends and late nights ahead of us to get everything ready as soon as we can.

We absolutely can’t wait to show off our new baby, so follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date with our progress and be the first to know when we’re ready to open!

Love,
Mary-Anne x
